The life of a model in the month before fashion week

Well I can’t speak for all of the models however I can speak for one. As I look after her preparation for the event I would suggest, well placed to help lay out before you what it is that makes a London Fashion Week catwalk model.

There are two things you need to know first of all.

If you are not 6 ft tall then you are unlikely to ever be so. Yes these girls have a height advantage over most other girls but that is not what makes a model. Otherwise every tall girl would be there.

Secondly there are zero tricks to get into shape for this event. Unless you count hard work and a good diet as a tip that is.

Her diet will surprise most of you being that it is mostly fat. You heard me right. 60% of her diet is fat, 35% protein - including some delicious chicken recipes - and a small amount is carbohydrates. She limits herself to 1,400 calories a day. Her body is burning fat as a fuel source and is happily burning her excess fat due to her being in a slight calorie deficit. And because she eats so much fat she is generally sated gets no hunger pangs.

In addition she is running around 5 miles in the mornings 3 times a week and on alternate days hitting the gym for 45 minutes of free weight exercises based around squats and bench presses.

She looks great, she feels great and she is trimming down in a healthy way for the show.

Come show time you will hear a lot about how unhealthy the girls are but I can tell you this much. One of them is fitter than most of the people reading this article and has worked damned hard to get where she is.
