Biker or Aviator

It looks like the new in item this season is an aviator coat, which is a big suede coat with a massive furry collar and fur lined seams on the outside. This is supposed to replace the leather biker type coats which were popular last season.
In my opinion biker jackets are more versatile. Yes, they are tough and edgy, but they can be worn with so many outfits. You can go with the original look and wear them with tough looking clothes, such as Dr Marten boots and tight jeans and a rocker t-shirt. But you can also wear it with a floaty summer dress or even a cocktail dress to add interest and edge to a an outfit that otherwise could be too plain or too sweet. You can also wear a biker jacket with some denim shorts, a loose t-shirt, black tights and Converse trainers. The beauty of a biker jacket is that it is fitted and so will suit pretty much any body shape. You can zip it at the bottom to show off your waist, you can leave it undone and wear it as you might have worn a blazer or do it up to keep warm in colder weather.
At the moment aviator coats don’t seem to be as versatile. They are big and bulky and they look like coats (they also look like something someone would wear to flog camper vans for sale), so they will be hard to wear in a similar way to a blazer. Whereas biker jackets can be worn most of the year, aviator coats are more suitable for colder seasons because of the warmth that comes from the fur. Maybe I haven’t seen enough of them yet and designers will show us their versatility in the future, but for now I will stay a biker girl.
